The Northern Colorado Foodshed Project and Poudre Valley Community Farms have signed an agreement to explore a potential merger. The merger exploration will be led by Lydia Lazar, who was hired by NCFP earlier this year and is now serving as the Executive Director for both organizations.

What is Poudre Valley Community Farms?
Poudre Valley Community Farms (PVCF) secures farmland and water resources in the local area and leases land to local producers at rates they can afford. The Northern Colorado Foodshed Project emerged from early work done by PVCF. We are now actively partnering with PVCF through the Accelerator Program, which helps young farmers build their businesses and takes place on Flores Del Sol, a Fort Collins open space property that is co-managed with PVCF.

Why are we considering a merger?
Both Foodshed and PVCF share a deep commitment to strengthening our Northern Colorado food system and have been working closely for years and our missions are complementary.

In a rapidly changing world and funding environment, it’s imperative that nonprofits evaluate their operations and adjust. We believe a merger could make our combined missions even more resilient and allow us to operate more efficiently with reduced overhead costs.
