In late June, the City of Fort Collins released a request for proposals to integrate and manage a sustainable agriculture project on city-owned land. In collaboration with Poudre Valley Community Farms, the Northern Colorado Foodshed Project submitted a comprehensive proposal. In October, we learned that our proposal has been selected to move forward.

We are now in discussion with the City for how to proceed with the project to best demonstrate the power of integrating agriculture and habitat restoration. Our proposal calls for PVCF to be the lease holder and to place established local farmers on around 100 acres of the land. The Foodshed Project will then work with city staff and PVCF to build out other important food system elements. Stay tuned for more information in the new year!
